Ndume, Zannah Visit Maiduguri Bomb Blast Victims, Urge Vigilance

Mohammed Ali Ndume and Usman Zannah on Thursday paid a visit to victims of the recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri who are currently receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and other medical facilities.
The visit followed Monday’s coordinated attacks in the metropolis, where three suicide bombers detonated explosives at the Post Office area, the popular Monday Market vicinity, and near the main gate of UMTH. The incidents claimed 23 lives and left more than 100 people injured.
Senator Ndume, who had been in Saudi Arabia observing the 2026 Lesser Hajj at the time of the attacks, returned to Maiduguri and proceeded directly to UMTH to sympathise with victims and their families. At the hospital’s Trauma Centre, he moved through several wards, interacting with patients and offering words of encouragement.
Describing the incident as a deeply painful experience for the state, Ndume urged the injured to remain strong and hopeful. He also extended his condolences to families who lost loved ones and provided financial assistance to support the treatment and welfare of victims.
In a similar gesture, Zannah, who chairs the House Committee on the North East Development Commission, expressed shock over the attacks. He offered prayers for those who died and wished the injured a quick recovery.
He commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, for visiting the victims. Zannah also praised the efforts of Babagana Zulum and the Borno State Government, alongside the management and staff of UMTH, the State Specialist Hospital, and Umaru Shehu UltraModern Hospital, for their swift medical response.
He further acknowledged the role of security and rescue teams, including the military, police, and the Civilian Joint Task Force, for their prompt action in managing the aftermath of the explosions.
Zannah urged residents to remain cautious, avoid crowded locations, and promptly report any suspicious movements to security agencies, especially during the ongoing Ramadan period and the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
