The White House on Monday confirmed that a proposed 45-day ceasefire arrangement with Iran is currently under consideration, but said President Donald Trump has not yet approved the deal as military operations continue.
According to a White House official, the ceasefire proposal is one of several options being reviewed by the administration and has not received the president’s final approval.
“This is one of many ideas, and POTUS has not signed off on it. Operation Epic Fury continues,” the official said.
The development indicates that discussions are ongoing within the administration over possible steps to de-escalate tensions, even as the conflict remains active.
The official also disclosed that President Trump is expected to address the situation in more detail during a press conference scheduled for 1:00 pm (1700 GMT).
The planned briefing is expected to provide further clarity on the administration’s position regarding the proposed temporary truce and the next phase of military engagement with Iran.
