Lagos Announces Traffic Diversions for Wednesday, Thursday Project Inaugurations

The Lagos State Government has announced temporary traffic diversions and partial road closures across key parts of the state ahead of the inauguration of major infrastructure projects scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and the smooth conduct of the ceremonies. He urged motorists and other road users to plan their journeys in advance and avoid the affected routes during the specified periods.
According to the statement, traffic movement will be affected on Wednesday, April 8, around the Opebi-Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota corridors between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. as the state commissions the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge.
On Thursday, April 9, vehicular movement is also expected to be disrupted in the Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle areas from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the inauguration of the Tolu Schools Complex.
Later on Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., motorists have been advised to steer clear of routes around Victoria Island and the Eko Hotel axis, where another official event is scheduled to hold.
The government added that traffic management personnel would be strategically deployed across affected locations to direct vehicles and reduce inconvenience to commuters.
The development follows an earlier announcement by the state government on Monday regarding the deployment of 500 additional officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for the events, which are expected to be attended by President Bola Tinubu.
