Iran Revolutionary Guards Threaten to Cut Off Oil and Gas Supply to US Allies for Years

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on Tuesday issued a strong warning to the United States and its regional allies, threatening to disrupt oil and gas supplies for years if Washington crosses what Tehran described as its “red lines.”
In a statement broadcast on state television, the Guards said any action by the US military beyond acceptable limits would attract a response extending far beyond the immediate region.
“The Revolutionary Guards once again declare that if the American terrorist army crosses the red lines, our response will go beyond the region,” the statement said.
The force, regarded as the ideological arm of Iran’s military establishment, further warned that it could target critical infrastructure across the region, with the aim of cutting off access to oil and gas resources for the United States and its allies.
According to the statement, such actions could leave America and its partners deprived of energy supplies in the region for years.
The Guards also cautioned neighbouring countries and Washington’s regional partners, saying Iran had so far shown restraint in the interest of maintaining good neighbourly relations.
It, however, stressed that this restraint should no longer be taken for granted.
“America’s regional partners should also know that until today, we have exercised great restraint for the sake of good neighbourliness and have had some reservations in choosing targets for retaliation, but all these reservations have since been removed,” the statement added.
