The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 20 academic programmes at Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA), marking a significant milestone for the Ondo State-owned institution.
The approval was conveyed in an official letter signed by the NUC Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Commission’s Executive Secretary.
In a statement released by the university’s Deputy Registrar for Information, Protocol and Public Relations, the accredited programmes cut across six faculties, underscoring AAUA’s expanding academic profile and strengthening national reputation.
Within the Faculty of Administration and Management, Accounting, Banking and Finance, and Public Administration received full accreditation. In the Faculty of Arts, Linguistics and Yoruba, Philosophy, and Yoruba Language were also approved.
The Faculty of Education recorded the highest number, with nine programmes granted full status. These include Adult Education, Educational Management, Education Biology, Education Mathematics, Education Physics, Education Religious Studies, Health Education, Integrated Science, and Social Studies.
The Faculty of Law saw its Law programme secure full accreditation, while in the Faculty of Science, both Biochemistry and Geology were approved. Additionally, in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Geography and Planning Sciences, alongside Psychology, earned full accreditation.
Reacting to the development, Vice Chancellor, Olugbenga Ige, commended the NUC for its commitment to maintaining quality standards in Nigerian universities. He also praised the dedication of the institution’s academic and non-academic staff, assuring that the university would continue to uphold and improve its standards.
The statement noted that the accreditation followed the NUC’s periodic assessment exercise conducted at AAUA between October and December 2025, with the outcome bringing widespread excitement across the university community.
