Tinubu Urged to Deliver on Mandate as Dogara Hails APC Primary Victory

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remain faithful to the mandate given to him, stressing that history will ultimately judge the administration by how well it meets the expectations of Nigerians.
Dogara said the President must justify the confidence reposed in him by citizens and govern with integrity, purpose, and a strong sense of responsibility, noting that the victory placed a historic burden on his leadership.
He explained that nearly eleven million Nigerians had entrusted Tinubu with their hopes and aspirations, describing the mandate as one of significant national importance.
In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of Bauchi State and in his capacity as a member of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, Dogara described Tinubu’s emergence as “extraordinary, historic and thoroughly deserved.”
He added that the outcome of the primary represented not only a personal victory for the President but also a strong affirmation of grassroots democracy within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the final results announced after the exercise, Tinubu polled 10,999,162 votes across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, while his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, scored 15,503 votes.
Dogara said the wide margin reflected the overwhelming confidence and trust APC members nationwide had in the President, describing the result as more than a statistic but a clear endorsement of leadership by party faithful.
He further noted that the election committee was saddled with the responsibility of safeguarding the integrity of the process and expressed satisfaction that the assignment was carried out credibly and in line with expectations.
Dogara also highlighted Tinubu’s decision to participate in direct primaries in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026, which abolished delegate voting and expanded participation to party members at the grassroots level.
He added that despite the advantages of incumbency, the President chose to subject himself to the democratic process, describing the move as an act of humility, courage, and commitment to democratic ideals.
