Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the appointment of 19 Permanent Secretaries to fill existing vacancies in the State Civil Service.
The appointments, approved on Monday, are aimed at strengthening the administrative structure of the state civil service and improving effective and efficient service delivery across government ministries.
The Head of the Gombe State Civil Service, Prof. Mu’azu Shehu, who announced the governor’s approval, said the appointments became necessary following the shortage of Permanent Secretaries in the service and the recent creation and restructuring of some ministries by the state government.
According to Shehu, filling the vacant positions would provide the affected ministries with competent administrative leadership and enable them to effectively carry out their statutory responsibilities.
He said the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries were selected from 11 Local Government Areas across the state, with consideration given to geographical spread, professional experience, competence and the specific administrative needs of the various ministries.
Shehu explained that the appointments were based on the officers’ suitability, professional competence and proven records of service.
He said the selected officers had demonstrated satisfactory performance throughout their careers and maintained clean service records, adding that they were carefully assessed before being recommended for elevation to the Permanent Secretary cadre.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are:
– Haruna Mohammed Danburam and Mohammed Auwal Ahmed – Akko LGA
– Alheri Yoriyo and Haruna Bello Gelengu – Balanga LGA
– Ruth Caleb Maina – Billiri LGA
– Auwal Abduljalal and Kasimu Umar – Dukku LGA
– Musa Muhammad Babaji and Adamu Audi – Funakaye LGA
– Dr Hadi Mohammed and Ali Yaya Ahmed – Gombe LGA
– Kabiru Mohammed Mahdi – Kwami LGA
– Balarabe Musa and Tabitha B. James – Kaltungo LGA
– Haruna Dadum Hamza and Ibrahim Mohammed Gombe – Nafada LGA
– Tahir Adamu Sadiq – Shongom LGA
– Shuai’bu Chiroma Muhammad and Musa Idi Batari – Yamaltu-Deba LGA
The Head of Service said the officers had acquired relevant experience and demonstrated commitment, professionalism and capacity in their respective areas of service.
He added that their satisfactory performance ratings and clean service records were among the factors that informed their elevation to the new positions.
Governor Yahaya is expected to charge the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries to bring their experience, professional competence and administrative capacity to bear on their responsibilities.
The appointments are also expected to support the state government’s efforts to build a more responsive, efficient, professional and results-oriented civil service.
