ADC Secures New Abuja Venue for National Convention

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has secured a new venue for its national convention scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, in Abuja, following earlier concerns over difficulties in obtaining a location for the event.
In an update shared on its official X handle, the party announced that the convention will now hold at the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja.
According to the ADC, the venue was selected to provide a central, accessible, and suitable location for delegates and stakeholders expected from different parts of the country.
The party stated that hosting the convention in Abuja reflects the national importance of the gathering and will help ensure a well-coordinated event in a city that is easily accessible to participants nationwide.

Earlier, concerns had emerged over the party’s inability to secure a venue less than 24 hours before the convention.
Kola Ologbondiyan, media aide to former Senate President David Mark, had disclosed that the party was yet to receive approval for the use of Eagle Square despite formally submitting a request to the office of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
He explained that although the letter was acknowledged, no official response was received.
Ologbondiyan also revealed that efforts to secure the Velodrome at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium were unsuccessful, while some privately owned event centres allegedly declined the party’s request over concerns of possible intimidation.

Reacting to the claims, Wike dismissed suggestions of politically motivated denial of access to Eagle Square, describing the allegations as unfounded and an attempt to gain public sympathy.
He maintained that Eagle Square remains open to all groups that comply with the required procedures and make the necessary payments.
