All You Need to Know About the New UNIZIK Vice Chancellor: Professor Stanley Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie Assumes Office as the 7th Substantive Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University

Professor Stanley Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, an accomplished scholar and distinguished Professor of Medical Physiology, has officially been appointed the 7th substantive Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Newday Reporters has learned.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, who also presented Professor Anyaehie with his official appointment letter, a copy of which was obtained by Newday Reporters.

Professor Anyaehie brings with him a rich and impressive academic pedigree. Before this appointment, he served as the former Provost of the College of Medicine at Imo State University and also held the position of Deputy Provost at the College of Medical Sciences, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu. His leadership roles in these top institutions highlight his depth of experience and commitment to academic excellence.

He emerged victorious after a highly competitive selection process that included respected academics such as Professor Ikechebelu and Professor (Mrs.) Sylvia Ezeilo, SAN. Following his emergence, Professor Anyaehie delivered his acceptance speech at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. He hails from Umuchukwu village in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.

In a remarkable twist of fate, his appointment coincided with a memorable personal milestone, his birthday. Even more symbolic is that this date is also the birthday of the iconic Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nigeria’s first President and the illustrious figure after whom the university is named. For many, this double celebration is seen as a significant and auspicious blessing for Professor Bond Anyaehie as he takes on this monumental role.

As he steps into office, all eyes will be on his leadership direction and the strategies he will deploy to address the numerous challenges confronting the institution.
