ANAMBRA ELECTION: President Tinubu Congratulates Governor Soludo on His Re-election

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo following his re-election as the Governor of Anambra State.

In a statement issued from the State House on Sunday and made available to Newday Reporters by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Soludo’s victory as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in him by the people of Anambra.

“I congratulate Professor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election as the Governor of Anambra State,” the President said. “His overwhelming victory at Saturday’s governorship poll makes him only the third governor in the political history of Anambra to secure a second term in office.”

President Tinubu also commended the people of Anambra State, the security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring a peaceful and credible election.

He described Soludo’s re-election as a clear validation of his visionary and people-centered leadership, noting that the governor’s record of progress and innovation has positioned Anambra as one of Nigeria’s most forward-looking states.

“Professor Soludo’s performance in office is a testament to the power of knowledge and the value of applying academic excellence to practical governance,” Tinubu stated. “He has anchored his administration on accountability, transparency, and prudent management of resources, reflecting a deep sense of purpose and responsibility.”

Recalling his visit to Anambra in May, where he inaugurated several landmark projects executed by the Soludo administration, the President praised the governor’s strategic and well-thought-out approach to development. “The experience left a lasting impression on me,” he said. “Governor Soludo has brought discipline, intellect, and creativity to governance, ensuring that Anambra truly lives up to its motto as the ‘Light of the Nation.’”

President Tinubu urged Soludo to be magnanimous in victory and to extend a hand of fellowship to his opponents, emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation in advancing the state’s development.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government to continue partnering with the Anambra State Government for the progress and prosperity of its people.

“The re-election of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate demonstrates the strength and vitality of Nigeria’s democracy,” the President remarked. “It shows that in our political system, performance and dedication to the people can always triumph, regardless of party affiliation.”

President Tinubu further commended the newly appointed INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting what observers have described as a free, fair, and credible election. He encouraged the commission to build on this success and continue improving the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process.

“The reports so far indicate a commendable performance,” the President noted. “INEC must sustain this momentum to further deepen the nation’s democracy and strengthen public confidence in our electoral institutions.”

the President expressed optimism that Governor Soludo’s second term will usher in even greater achievements for Anambra and set new benchmarks for good governance in Nigeria.
