Anambra Police Commissioner Orders Swift Arrest of Officers’ Killers Within 48 Hours

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, has directed all police formations and tactical units across the state to intensify efforts to identify and arrest those responsible for the recent killing of police officers within the next 48 hours.
The directive was issued during an emergency security meeting held at the State Police Command Headquarters, where senior officers and commanders of various operational units reviewed the security situation and discussed strategies for bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Addressing the gathering, Orutugu charged officers to act swiftly and decisively in tracking down those behind the attack, emphasizing that the incident must not go unpunished.
He assured residents that the command remains committed to maintaining law and order and would deploy every available resource to ensure the culprits are apprehended.
The police commissioner condemned the killing of security personnel, describing it as a grave attack on public safety and a challenge to the authority of law enforcement agencies.
He further warned that criminal groups would no longer be allowed to exploit remote areas or operate under the cover of darkness to carry out violent activities across the state.
Orutugu also raised concerns over intelligence reports indicating that some criminal elements have adopted the practice of wearing police and military uniforms to deceive members of the public and evade security checks.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies, noting that public cooperation remains essential in the fight against crime.
The commissioner specifically advised motorists and commuters travelling along the Amansea–Ufuma Road to exercise caution, describing the route as one of the areas recently affected by criminal ambushes and other security threats.
He reassured citizens that intelligence-led operations have already been launched and expressed confidence that those responsible for the attack would soon be identified and brought before the law.
According to him, the command remains fully determined to restore normalcy and guarantee the protection of lives and property throughout Anambra State.
