Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshal, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has formally announced her intention to contest for the Surulere Constituency 2 seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly. The announcement was made via her Instagram page on Tuesday.
In her post, Marshal emphasized her commitment to public service and desire to represent the interests of her constituents. “I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.
Highlighting her over a decade-long legal career, Marshal noted that her professional experience has provided her with valuable insights into governance, justice, and grassroots issues. She described herself as “a woman of excellence and results,” expressing her readiness to advocate for youth empowerment and community development.
“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now, and that is why I decided to step forward,” Marshal added, urging voters to prioritize capability and development. She concluded her message with the rallying cry: “Youth Lokan!!! Igbega Eko, Ajumose wa ni.”
Marshal seeks to succeed Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, the current representative of the constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The aspiring lawmaker is the second daughter of music icon K1 De Ultimate. She holds a law degree from North American University, Houdegbe in Cotonou, Benin Republic, and was called to the Nigerian Bar on December 15, 2015. She further earned a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.
Her appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism by Governor Sanwo-Olu took effect on May 3, 2024.
