Delta Police Arrest Woman for Selling Two-Month-Old Baby for N1.5m, Infant Rescued Safely

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a woman who confessed to selling her two-month-old baby for N1.5 million after initially claiming the child was stolen.

Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday.

According to the police, the woman, identified as Ughale, reported at the Ekpan Police Division on December 15, alleging that her baby was seized by armed robbers while she was travelling in a tricycle.

Following her report, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Labe Joseph, immediately led a search and rescue operation. However, during questioning, officers noticed inconsistencies in her account, prompting further investigation.

The woman later admitted that she fabricated the robbery claim and confessed to selling her child to two individuals for N1.5 million.

The suspects were apprehended, and the baby was rescued unharmed.

All individuals involved are now in custody, while the police intensify efforts to track down other accomplices linked to the case.
