Former Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor, Edison Ehie, has refuted claims linking him to a purported 2027 deputy governorship ambition, describing the reports as false and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Ehie reacted to the circulation of a poster suggesting he was part of a political arrangement under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The poster alleged that he had aligned with former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dakuku Peterside, in a bid to “free Rivers from the hands of one man.”
Dismissing the claims, Ehie described the narrative as “mischievous and desperate,” insisting it was a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and sow division within the political landscape of the state.
He stressed that he has no involvement in any such political arrangement, noting that the use of his name in the alleged campaign material was unauthorized and misleading.
The former Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), while also expressing continued support for the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Ehie further stated that Rivers State does not need “rescue from imaginary enemies,” adding that the state is currently experiencing purposeful leadership and unity under the present administration.
He cautioned those behind the alleged propaganda to desist, warning that residents of the state are politically aware and unlikely to be influenced by false narratives.
The former lawmaker also urged the public to disregard the poster and remain focused on the collective development of Rivers State, reiterating that his allegiance remains firmly with the APC and the leadership of Governor Fubara.
