FCTA Sets Date for Promotion Exams as Over 8,000 Staff Prepare for CBT Assessment

More than 8,000 civil servants under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) are set to participate in the upcoming Computer-Based Test (CBT) promotion examinations scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, said the examinations will cover 165 different cadres and will run for five consecutive days, ending on Saturday, November 29, 2025. The tests will hold at the National Open University Study Centre located along Kubwa Road, Abuja.

Ezeh explained that this phase of the promotion exercise is part of the ongoing efforts to ensure timely advancement for workers across all levels.

He recalled that earlier in August, the results of the first-ever Computer-Based Promotion Examination—held on August 12, 2025—were released. The outcome saw 49 deputy directors elevated to the rank of director after receiving approval from FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. That exercise also helped clear outstanding promotion arrears from 2023 to 2025 for staff on Grade Level 16.

According to Ezeh, the minister has now given approval for the swift completion of the 2024 promotion cycle, emphasizing motivation and fairness for all cadres of staff.

He added that the ongoing transition to digital examinations is intentional, marking a full adoption of a modern, technology-driven promotion system across the FCTA.

Ezeh noted that the CBT format will continue to serve as the standard method for future assessments, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to a transparent and efficient promotion process.
