In a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, the Minister, Mohammed Idris, praised the national team for their commitment and fighting spirit, noting that they upheld Nigeria’s honour throughout the competition.
Idris said the Super Eagles demonstrated admirable character, teamwork and determination from the start of the tournament to the final whistle, qualities he described as deeply valued by Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
“Even in defeat, the team showed character, unity and resilience. These are qualities that matter greatly to the nation they represent,” the minister stated.
He acknowledged that football, like life, involves both moments of success and disappointment, but stressed that the Super Eagles’ consistency, discipline and dedication earned them the respect and appreciation of the country.
