Former Anambra Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. D.B. Afam Obi, Dies

A former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. D. B. Afam Obi, hasy passed away.
His family confirmed his death in a statement issued on Saturday, describing the late lawmaker as a man whose life was defined by dedication to public service, integrity, and community advancement.
According to the statement, Obi was widely regarded as a respected leader, a devoted father, and a strong pillar within his community. His years in public office were marked by commitment to governance and grassroots development, leaving what the family called a lasting impact on the people he served.
“With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Rt. Hon. D. B. Afam Obi, former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly,” the statement read.
“A respected leader, devoted father, and pillar of his community, he dedicated his life to service, integrity, and the advancement of those around him.
“His legacy of quiet strength, wisdom, and commitment to the growth of society will continue to inspire generations. We are grateful for the outpouring of support and condolences received during this difficult time.”
The family added that details of the funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
The late Obi was a native of Ihembosi in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.
