Governor Bago Raises Alarm Over Displacement, Marks Birthday with Prayers for Peace in Niger State

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State has expressed serious concern over the growing displacement of communities caused by ongoing security challenges across parts of the state.
Speaking to journalists in Minna on Sunday during activities marking his 52nd birthday, the governor said the current situation calls for deep reflection and prayers, noting that many families have been forced to abandon their homes due to insecurity.
Governor Bago explained that he chose to dedicate his birthday to prayers, asking God to bring relief, protection, and restoration to affected communities.
He noted that the timing of his birthday, which falls within both the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the Christian Lenten season, makes it especially significant for collective spiritual reflection.
According to him, the period presents a unique opportunity for people of different faiths to unite in prayer for peace, stability, and healing across the state and the country at large.
He said he had set aside the day for special prayer sessions in mosques, churches, and other places of worship, with the aim of seeking divine intervention in addressing the security challenges and easing the suffering of displaced residents.
Governor Bago also expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life and guiding his leadership journey. He appreciated the Permanent Secretary of Government House, Minna, Hajiya Hauwa Wali, for organising the prayer session, and thanked members of his cabinet and other supporters for their continued cooperation and contributions to his administration.
The special prayer gathering was attended by several top government officials, including the governor’s wife, Hajiya Fatima Bago, Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, members of the State Executive Council, and other senior aides and stakeholders.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working towards restoring peace and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents in Niger State.
