Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has dismissed one of his aides for violating directives against early political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was disclosed by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba, during the government’s monthly media briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Centre in Lafia.
Responding to questions on why some of the governor’s appointees had ignored repeated warnings against premature campaigning, Ahemba revealed that one of them had already been relieved of his duties.
According to him, “Governor Sule has dismissed one of his aides who defied the directive by engaging in open campaign activities despite several warnings.”
The aide identified as Arch. Ahmed Usman Seriki, who served as the Senior Special Adviser on Works and a former chairman of Doma Local Government Area, was removed for openly campaigning in support of former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, who has reportedly indicated interest in contesting the 2027 governorship election.
In another development, Ahemba announced that the Nasarawa State Government remains fully committed to completing the Karu flyovers and underpass project before the end of Governor Sule’s administration in 2027.
He disclosed that the Federal Government has granted approval for the construction of two flyovers and an underpass in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area, to ease traffic congestion along the busy Karu-Mararaba corridor.
Ahemba explained that the Sule-led administration has a policy of setting aside funds before embarking on any project to avoid abandonment or waste of resources.
“The government is committed to completing every project it initiates. Funds for the Karu flyover and underpass project were already secured even before its conception,” he said.
He added that Governor Sule has directed the Nasarawa Urban Development Agency (NUDA) to conduct a feasibility study to determine suitable locations and prepare necessary details for the contract award.
On security, Ahemba stated that the government has concluded plans to deploy Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, drones, and other surveillance tools to combat rising cases of kidnapping and insecurity across the state.
“The government has adopted new strategies to address security challenges. Security agencies, in partnership with stakeholders, are already implementing measures to flush out criminals and ensure safety in all parts of the state,” he assured.
