HAPPENING NOW: Former Labour President Kidnapped In Kaduna

 

Former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Takai Shamang, has been abducted in his hometown of Biniki, located in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Shamang, who is 78 years old, also served as President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, which is now known as the National Union of Electricity Employees, from 1982 to 1989.

His daughter, Mrs. Grace Abbin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). She stated that her father was taken from his residence in Biniki at around 8:00 pm on Friday.

In addition to his labor leadership roles, Shamang is the President and Founder of Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans and Needy Foundation, commonly referred to as the GAWON Foundation.
