JAMB to Release 2026 UTME Results for Thursday Candidates Before Midnight

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that results for candidates who sat the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Thursday, April 16, will be released before midnight.
In a statement issued on Friday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, assured candidates that the results would be made available promptly, adding that an official announcement would be released once the process is completed.
According to the board, candidates who participated in the examination will be able to check their results immediately after the release is finalised.
A total of 2,243,816 candidates registered for the 2026 UTME, marking a 10.5 per cent increase compared to the 2.03 million recorded in 2025.
Data from the registration exercise showed that Lagos State had the highest number of candidates with 381,814. Ogun followed with 137,156, Oyo recorded 122,662, Kaduna had 103,498, while the Federal Capital Territory accounted for 102,961 candidates. Rivers recorded 105,584 candidates, and Kano had 83,167.
On the lower end, Borno recorded 13,483 candidates, while Zamfara had 14,861.
Outside Nigeria, participation remained relatively low. Côte d’Ivoire led with 32 candidates, followed by Equatorial Guinea with 16, Burkina Faso with 14, and the United Kingdom with 12. Other countries, including Gambia, Ghana, and South Africa, recorded fewer than ten candidates each.
To improve access and logistics, JAMB increased the number of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide to about 1,000. However, the board also delisted 23 centres across states such as the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Delta, Edo, and Plateau due to technical issues observed during the mock examination.
JAMB advised candidates to stay updated through its verified platforms for accurate information on accessing their results.
