Kebbi Residents Urged to Give Tinubu Warm Welcome Ahead of State Visit

The Kebbi State Government has called on residents to turn out en masse to warmly receive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he arrives in the state for an official visit on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
During the visit, President Tinubu is expected to commission several key projects completed by the administration of Governor Nasir Idris. The projects are described as people-focused initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and public services across the state.
The President will also declare open the 61st edition of the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, one of Nigeria’s most prominent cultural events, which has already attracted local and international visitors.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the government confirmed that the President’s itinerary includes the commissioning of major infrastructure projects before proceeding to the festival grounds.
Among the projects slated for inauguration are the Bola Ahmed Tinubu State Secretariat Complex, the Birnin Kebbi Central Motor Park, newly constructed township road networks, and the Argungu dual carriageway, among others.
The commissioner appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies and maintain order throughout the visit. He noted that certain roads within the Birnin Kebbi metropolis and parts of Argungu would be temporarily closed to ensure smooth presidential movements in line with established security protocols.
Motorists and commuters were advised to bear with the temporary inconvenience caused by the traffic adjustments.
With international guests already arriving for the cultural festival, the government emphasized that the behavior and hospitality of residents would significantly influence how Kebbi State is perceived globally.
Residents were therefore urged to remain peaceful, law-abiding, welcoming and courteous in order to project a positive image of the state while hosting the President and other dignitaries.
