Kumuyi Urges Nigerian Leaders to Drive Positive Change, Emphasises Legacy Ahead of 2027 Elections

The General Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has called on Nigerian leaders to become agents of transformation by inspiring citizens and contributing to the nation’s overall development.
The respected cleric, who also convenes the Global Crusade with Kumuyi, said those in leadership positions have a crucial responsibility to initiate meaningful change by influencing their communities positively, which he noted would ultimately improve the country’s socio-economic conditions.
Kumuyi made the remarks while speaking with journalists shortly after arriving at the Port Harcourt International Airport ahead of the Global Crusade themed “Turning Point.” The crusade is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, February 25 to Sunday at the Deeper Life Campground in Rumudara, on the outskirts of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He explained that genuine national transformation begins with personal renewal, stressing that both leaders and citizens must experience inner change for the country to witness real progress.
According to him, when individuals undergo positive transformation, they naturally influence others around them, including those responsible for governance, thereby creating a ripple effect that can shape national policies and strengthen the economy.
“Turning point is God’s direction for individuals. When individuals experience a turning point, they become instruments of change in their communities. And when those who have influence in governance also experience such change, it will certainly impact the nation positively,” he said.
Kumuyi added that personal transformation is not isolated, noting that when lives are touched and changed, the impact extends to communities and eventually the nation at large.
He also highlighted the importance of legacy, urging those in positions of authority to seek divine guidance in order to make decisions that will leave lasting positive impacts on the country, especially as the 2027 general elections approach.
He stressed that both leaders and citizens must desire positive change within themselves, explaining that inward transformation often reflects in outward actions that shape communities.
“Everyone, whether leaders or followers, should seek a turning point. What happens within us eventually reflects outside. The actions of individuals will ultimately be judged by the legacies they leave behind,” he said.
In her remarks, Mrs. Esther Kumuyi encouraged participants and Nigerians in general not to lose hope, assuring them that solutions to personal and national challenges are still possible.
She expressed confidence that the crusade would inspire faith, renewal, and positive change among attendees and the wider society.
