The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has cautioned its personnel against engaging in political activities while carrying out their professional duties.
Air Vice Marshal Usman Abdullahi, the Air Officer Commanding, Special Operations Command, Bauchi, gave the warning on Saturday during the 2025 annual 10-kilometre walk and jog exercise organized by the Air Force.
Abdullahi emphasized the need for personnel to remain neutral in politics and uphold the ethics of the military profession.
> “You must remain apolitical. Do not involve yourselves in any political activities or any conduct that goes against the values of our military profession. I urge you to remain loyal to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to the President and Commander-in-Chief,” he stated.
He noted that the Air Force places great importance on physical fitness among its personnel, adding that such exercises are designed to strengthen unity, enhance mental alertness, and ensure operational readiness.
The commander also commended the Bauchi State Government for its continuous support, cooperation, and the creation of a conducive environment for the NAF to carry out its operations effectively.
Speaking after the exercise, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, praised the participants for their exceptional performances, describing them as a reflection of discipline, consistency, and determination.
According to him, these qualities are essential not only for physical fitness but also for achieving success in all aspects of life.
Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Auwal Jatau, the governor highlighted the significance of the event, noting that it fostered teamwork and unity among various security agencies.
> “Seeing officers from the Air Force, sister security services, paramilitary agencies, and NYSC members come together in such a lively atmosphere shows that sports and fitness can serve as powerful tools for promoting peace and solidarity,” he said.
Mohammed commended the harmonious relationship between the Bauchi State Government, the Nigerian Air Force, and other security agencies in maintaining peace and security across the state.
He acknowledged the crucial role played by the Special Operations Command and other formations in ensuring the safety and stability enjoyed by residents.
At least 32 participants, including airmen, airwomen, officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Customs Service, and civilians, received various prizes for their outstanding performance during the exercise.
