Oyedepo Warns Gospel Ministers Against Falsehood, Says Lies Have No Place in Ministry

The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has cautioned gospel ministers against spreading falsehoods in an attempt to sustain or promote their ministries.
The cleric gave the warning on Sunday during the final day of the church’s 21-day fasting and prayer programme, held at its international headquarters, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State.
Speaking during the third service, Bishop Oyedepo stressed that dishonesty is incompatible with genuine Christian ministry, warning that ministers who rely on lies will ultimately fail.
“You won’t last in ministry telling lies,” he said. “I stand before God; I will never tell lies about what God did not do just to impress anyone.”
He urged ministers to remain firmly rooted in the truth of the Scriptures and to give glory to God alone, noting that unwavering commitment to biblical truth is what enables genuine spiritual growth and lasting impact.
According to him, “Holding fast to the validity of the Scriptures and boasting in the Lord is what makes you scale enviable heights.”
The bishop also encouraged believers to sustain their love for Jesus, emphasizing that total dependence on God is key to overcoming life’s challenges and securing restoration.
“To secure your restoration, keep your love for Jesus alive,” he said. “Allow God to lead you, and He will drown your enemies in the Red Sea. For anything you may ever need in life, Jesus is more than enough.”
In addition, Oyedepo shared a personal testimony, recalling how a close associate in Ile-Ife who was afflicted with mental illness was restored after the Scriptures were consistently read to him, which he described as a demonstration of the power of God’s Word.
He concluded by reaffirming that truth, faithfulness to Scripture, and absolute reliance on God remain the foundation of authentic ministry and victorious Christian living.
