ABUJA — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across the country and around the world commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The party made the call in a Maulud message issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed.
The PDP described the Maulud celebration as an important occasion for Muslims to reflect on the life, teachings and exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), particularly his values of peace, justice, compassion, honesty and love for humanity.
According to the party, these virtues remain relevant to the challenges facing society and should inspire Nigerians to promote understanding, mutual respect and peaceful relations among people of different backgrounds.
The PDP urged Nigerians to use the occasion to strengthen the bonds of unity that hold the country together and work collectively towards building a society founded on justice, democracy, equity and prosperity.
“As a nation, we must continue to strengthen the bonds that unite us and work collectively towards a more just, democratic and prosperous Nigeria,” the party said.
The opposition party also encouraged Nigerians to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray for peace and stability across the country, while seeking divine guidance for leaders at all levels in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The PDP prayed for continued blessings upon Nigeria and called for the wisdom, courage and commitment needed to build a nation where justice, equity and good governance are upheld.
“May Almighty Allah accept our prayers, strengthen our faith, bless our nation and grant us the wisdom and courage to build a Nigeria where justice, equity and good governance prevail,” the party said.
The PDP extended its greetings and best wishes to the Muslim Ummah, wishing them a peaceful, blessed and spiritually rewarding Maulud Nabi celebration.
