Comedian and actress Real Warri Pikin has cancelled her planned show in Warri, Delta State, citing what she described as “unfortunate divisions” that had emerged around the event.
The entertainer announced the cancellation in a statement shared on her official Instagram account, expressing disappointment that divisions had arisen in a situation she believed should have promoted unity.
She said the show, which was scheduled to take place in Warri in the coming weeks, would no longer hold due to circumstances linked to the divisions surrounding the event.
Real Warri Pikin said she found it troubling that tribal, political and geographical considerations could create divisions within a society where people should be working together.
According to her, the cancellation of the show would not affect her identity, purpose or the broader reach of her brand.
She stressed that the identity of the “Real Warri Pikin” brand goes beyond her place of birth or the specific community she comes from.
The comedian said she could not be defined solely by her local government, her parents’ backgrounds or geographical boundaries.
She noted that her identity and influence extend across Delta State, Nigeria and Africa, adding that she also identifies with women across different tribes, races and borders.
Real Warri Pikin further stated that she would not allow her calling to be restricted by geography, tribe or politics.
She maintained that she was committed to making a positive contribution to Delta State, Nigeria and the African continent, regardless of the divisions surrounding the cancelled event.
The entertainer also expressed appreciation to individuals who supported her during the controversy.
She thanked those who contacted her, offered counsel, encouraged her and provided comfort during the period, saying she did not take their support for granted.
Despite the circumstances that led to the cancellation, Real Warri Pikin said she harboured no bitterness towards those whose actions contributed to the situation.
She instead called for wisdom and unity, stressing that greater progress could be achieved when people work together rather than allow differences to divide them.
According to her, although the Warri show would no longer take place, the cancellation had not changed the larger vision behind her work.
She reaffirmed her pride in her Delta State and Nigerian identity and said she would continue to pursue what she believes is her purpose.
Real Warri Pikin concluded by maintaining that the cancellation of the show would not stop her from contributing to her community, country and continent.
