Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara Condoles with Bayelsa Governor Over Late Deputy Governor

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara paid a condolence visit to Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri at the Government House in Yenagoa on Sunday, December 21, 2025, following the passing of Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo, who served as the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, died suddenly on December 11, 2025. Dressed in a black native shirt and matching hat, Governor Fubara arrived in Yenagoa, where he exchanged warm greetings with Governor Diri before proceeding into the Government House.
In a statement personally signed by Governor Fubara, he expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Ewhrudjakpo’s death as a significant blow. He extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Diri and the people of Bayelsa State on behalf of the Government and citizens of Rivers State.
“Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo was a man of exceptional character whose life and service set a high standard in public office,” Governor Fubara said. “He combined intellectual brilliance with humility, making him not only an outstanding political leader but also a pillar of support to your administration and a source of inspiration to his constituents.”
The Rivers governor added that the news of Ewhrudjakpo’s death was deeply felt beyond Bayelsa’s borders, uniting neighbouring states in mourning.
“His legacy as a dedicated public servant and a steadfast leader will continue to inspire many,” Governor Fubara concluded.
The condolence visit underscores the solidarity and shared grief between Rivers and Bayelsa states in the wake of this tragic loss.
