Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently presiding over a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting has drawn the participation of governors and deputy governors from across the federation to deliberate on key economic and developmental issues affecting the country.
Among those in attendance are the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State; Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State; Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State; Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State; Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State; Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State; Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State; and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, whose presence at the meeting is considered notable due to his infrequent attendance at NEC sessions.
The National Economic Council serves as a platform for collaboration between the federal and state governments on economic planning, policy coordination, and strategies aimed at promoting national development and improving the welfare of citizens.
The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape discussions on critical economic matters and strengthen cooperation among the various tiers of government.
