In a poignant commentary on the deepening economic crisis in Nigeria, former presidential candidate Peter Obi has drawn attention to the severe hardships faced by ordinary citizens, using vivid observations from a recent visit to Anambra State
Obi while speaking in a video posted by Channels Television, described a landscape of pervasive poverty during his tour of rural villages, painting a grim picture of the daily realities for many Nigerians.
He provided a stark example from an inspection of a school in the state capital, revealing a profound lack of basic infrastructure: the absence of both chairs for students and functional toilets.
“I was in villages in Anambra state yesterday, going round I could see poverty all over the place, I inspected a school in our capital and there’s no chair, no toilet, teachers don’t have anything and we are not talking about all these things”
The imagery of a school without chairs or toilets powerfully communicates a failure in governance and resource allocation, suggesting that economic decisions are directly undermining the future of the nation’s youth.
Obi maintained that he wants to change the tragetory of Nigerian leadership and that he he salet to do what will benefit Nigerians and alleviate poverty in Nigeria.
