Soludo Opens Application Process for Appointment of New Permanent Secretaries in Anambra

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has approved the commencement of the process for the appointment of new permanent secretaries in the state public service, with suitably qualified civil servants directed to submit their expressions of interest.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head of Service, Mrs. Ngozi Iwouno, who outlined the eligibility criteria and application procedures for interested candidates.
According to the statement, applicants must be confirmed officers in the Anambra State Public Service and currently serve within the directorate cadre. Eligible officers are required to be not below the rank of Deputy Director and not above the rank of Director, with a minimum of two years remaining before their retirement.
The notice also extended the opportunity to qualified officers outside the Anambra State Civil Service, provided they are on the same directorate cadre.
Interested candidates have been directed to complete their applications through the state government’s online portal, print out the completed forms, and submit them to the Office of the Head of Service in Awka on or before April 8, 2026.
The statement added that only shortlisted candidates would advance to the next stage of the selection process.
Permanent secretaries serve as the administrative heads of ministries and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of government activities, as well as the effective implementation of policies and programmes.
The move, initiated by Governor Soludo, is part of efforts to strengthen the state’s civil service, improve administrative efficiency, and enhance governance across ministries and departments.
At present, the Anambra State Public Service has 19 permanent secretaries and two auditors-general.
