Sowore Rejects Clash with VDM, Says Intervention Aimed at Protecting Blord’s Rights

Nigerian activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has dismissed attempts to draw him into a public feud with social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, over the ongoing legal dispute involving businessman Linus Williams Ifejirika, also known as Blord.
Sowore made his position known shortly after VDM appeared in court alongside Blord, where both men were seen exchanging handshakes, an action widely interpreted as a sign of reconciliation between them. Despite this, VDM took a swipe at the activist, accusing him of escalating the situation and portraying the issue as a personal confrontation.
Responding to the remarks, Sowore maintained that his involvement in the matter was solely to safeguard Blord’s rights, particularly in ensuring he was granted bail and not subjected to injustice.
“I’ve told you that my intervention in the case is to ensure that Blord’s rights are not trampled upon and that he is granted bail so the case can be discontinued. My lawyers have been directed accordingly,” he said.
He further asserted that recent developments in the case supported his earlier stance, noting that VDM had reportedly resolved differences privately with Blord.
“According to him, he has met with Blord and they have settled privately, but we were the ones who ensured Blord regained his freedom. The judge has stepped away from the case. Everything I said would happen has happened,” Sowore added.
Addressing reports of threats against him, Sowore said he remained resolute and willing to bear any consequences in the course of defending others.
“I have already made it clear that I am ready to make myself a scapegoat if that is what it takes to prevent others from suffering. If I have to go down so others do not, then so be it,” he stated.
The controversy stems from a legal dispute between VDM and Blord, which began after the influencer accused the businessman of questionable activities, including the alleged misuse of his identity. The allegations later led to Blord’s arraignment on charges related to impersonation, forgery, and conspiracy, all of which he has denied.
The case has since taken a new turn, as the presiding judge recused herself and directed that the case file be reassigned by the Chief Judge. The matter was subsequently adjourned for further mention.
While tensions between Sowore and VDM have fueled reactions online, the recent developments in court and the apparent reconciliation between VDM and Blord suggest that the situation may be gradually easing.
