ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging the faithful to reflect on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President said the celebration should go beyond commemorating the birth of the Prophet by providing an opportunity for Muslims to engage in introspection, prayer and a renewed commitment to the values he exemplified.
Tinubu urged Muslims to make deliberate efforts to uphold the teachings and virtues associated with Prophet Muhammad, including devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness.
According to the President, these qualities remain relevant to building a peaceful, united and prosperous society.
“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” he said.
The President also called on Islamic scholars and other religious leaders to use the occasion to offer prayers for Nigeria and encourage their followers to apply the lessons of the Prophet’s life to their responsibilities as citizens.
He urged Muslims celebrating Eid-el-Maulud to extend kindness and support to the less privileged, particularly vulnerable members of society, stressing the importance of compassion and generosity during the period.
Tinubu further called for prayers for an end to insecurity and other challenges affecting communities across the country.
He urged Nigerians to continue to promote peace, unity and mutual understanding, saying the values of tolerance, compassion and selflessness remain essential to the nation’s progress.
The President wished Muslims across the country a peaceful and meaningful Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
