Toke Makinwa Opens Up on Life, Mistakes and Public Pressure in Candid Chat with Tacha

Media personality and entrepreneur, Toke Makinwa, has spoken frankly about the realities of navigating life under public scrutiny, admitting that she is still learning, growing and making mistakes along the way.

Makinwa shared her thoughts while interviewing reality TV star and influencer, Tacha Akide, on her talk show Toke Moments. During the conversation, she stressed that public figures are often unfairly judged, despite being human and still figuring life out like everyone else.

“I am still going to make so many more mistakes,” Makinwa said.

She explained that many people fail to understand that celebrities do not have a manual for life. According to her, every day presents a new opportunity for self-discovery and learning.

“People don’t understand that we are people who are actually just figuring things out. We are literally learning life as we go. No one has a rule book. No one has lived this life before. Every new day is an opportunity to learn something new about yourself,” she said.

Makinwa also described the pressure placed on public figures as overwhelming, noting that conversations on social media often lump different personalities together unfairly.

She pointed out that her name is frequently mentioned alongside those of other popular women like Tacha and singer Tiwa Savage, often for issues she has nothing to do with.

“I find it funny that every time our names are included in conversations online, you see Tacha, Toke, Tiwa. And I always ask myself, what do I have to do with this? I’m literally just nursing my baby,” she added.

Concluding her remarks, Makinwa said she is not afraid of making mistakes in the public eye, emphasising that courage is what sets her apart.

“I will still fall flat on my face. The difference is that I have the courage to do it, while you all are watching,” she said.

Her comments sparked conversations online about public expectations, celebrity pressure and the need for empathy towards public figures.
