Troops under the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have captured a man suspected to be a major supplier of hard drugs to Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters operating across parts of Borno and Adamawa states.
According to security sources, the suspect, identified as Muhammad, is believed to have played a significant role in delivering cannabis sativa and crystal meth (commonly called ICE) to terrorist cells through the Askira-Uba, Chibok, Michika, and Damboa routes.
During the arrest, troops recovered 14 blocks of cannabis sativa valued at over ₦1 million, along with 43 grams of ICE worth more than ₦3 million. He was also caught with two military camouflage T-shirts, which he allegedly used to disguise himself while transporting the illegal substances to the terrorists.
Sources added that preliminary investigations have been completed, and the seized items will be transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Yola Command, for further action.
