Troops Intercept Vehicle, Recover ₦37m and Foil Terrorist Attacks in Borno

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have intercepted a suspicious vehicle and recovered about ₦37 million in cash, along with several mobile phones believed to be connected to terrorist activities in Borno State.
The development was disclosed on Monday by the spokesman of the task force, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, who said the operation was carried out by troops at the Forward Operating Base, Chabbal Checkpoint, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle financial and logistical networks supporting insurgents in the North East.
According to him, the vehicle, which had five occupants, was intercepted during routine patrols along routes known to be frequently used by terrorists.
He described the interception as a significant breakthrough in the military’s efforts to cut off financial channels and disrupt logistical support for terrorist operations.
In a related development, troops also repelled coordinated attacks by terrorists on Pulka and Mandaragirau communities in Gwoza Local Government Area of the state.
During the operation, the troops inflicted heavy losses on the attackers, including neutralising a senior Boko Haram commander identified as Abou Aisha, who suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the neck. Several weapons and equipment were also recovered during the engagement.
Lt.-Col. Uba said there were no casualties among the troops, although some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), who were supporting the military, lost their lives in the line of duty.
He added that injured soldiers were promptly evacuated through the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai and Nigerian Army aviation platforms for medical treatment.
The spokesman explained that the military operations form part of a deliberate strategy to weaken terrorist supply chains and restrict insurgents’ movement across the region.
He further revealed that between February 14 and 16, terrorists launched attacks from the Sambisa Forest axis targeting Pulka and Mandaragirau communities.
However, troops responded with intense gunfire, successfully repelling the attackers and forcing them to retreat.
