BAUCHI — The Campaign Organisation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has dismissed reports alleging that some of his supporters have defected to another governorship aspirant in Bauchi State, describing the claims as false, misleading and a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the political situation within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Saturday, the organisation said the allegations emerged from a recent press conference addressed by supporters of another governorship aspirant, where claims were made that members of the Tuggar political structure had declared support for a different contender.
The campaign organisation categorically denied the claims, insisting that no individual or group within its structure had been authorised to negotiate, endorse or announce support for any other governorship aspirant on behalf of Ambassador Tuggar.
It maintained that the campaign remains united, focused and firmly committed to advancing the political aspiration of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressing that its supporters continue to stand behind his vision and leadership.
The organisation accused those behind the reports of attempting to create a false impression of division within the Tuggar camp and mislead members of the APC as well as the general public regarding the level of support enjoyed by the minister.
It urged party members and the public to disregard what it described as unfounded claims, insisting that the campaign structure remains intact and unwavering in its support for Ambassador Tuggar.
The campaign organisation also called on political actors and their supporters to conduct their activities with responsibility, cautioning against the spread of unverified information capable of causing confusion and unnecessary tension within the party.
It further advocated issue-based campaigns ahead of the governorship contest, emphasizing that political engagements should be guided by honesty, integrity, mutual respect and adherence to democratic principles.
According to the statement, the campaign remains committed to promoting peaceful political participation and constructive engagement throughout the electoral process.
