The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the Federal Capital Territory.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, Wike has also approved the establishment of a new division under the Department of Land Administration to take over all matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses within the FCT.
The newly created division will assume the responsibilities previously handled by the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee.
The FCT Administration explained that although the committee had completed its assignment, its secretariat remained operational for some time to attend to issues arising from the committee’s activities.
However, with the latest directive, the secretariat has now been formally shut down.
Consequently, members of the public seeking information or assistance regarding the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT have been directed to approach the Department of Land Administration.
The FCT Administration also cautioned residents and prospective buyers to be vigilant against fraudsters who may attempt to take advantage of the dissolution of the committee and closure of its secretariat.
It warned that individuals who continue to present themselves as staff, officers or members of the former Ad-hoc Committee or its secretariat should not be trusted, as neither the committee nor its secretariat remains operational.
The administration urged members of the public to report suspicious activities and ensure that all transactions relating to Federal Government Houses are conducted through the appropriate authorities.
The development effectively brings the activities of the former Ad-hoc Committee and its secretariat to an end, with the Department of Land Administration now responsible for handling matters concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
