In a heartfelt sermon delivered on Sunday and streamed live on his church’s official YouTube channel, Pastor Paul Adefarasin addressed the recent viral allegation that accused him of pointing a firearm at a content creator. The message, which was closely monitored by Vanguard, captured the emotional and spiritual response of the pastor as he set the record straight.
Pastor Adefarasin expressed deep shock and emotional pain over the false claims, noting the volume of calls he received in the aftermath. “Several persons called me. I was shocked. I was hurt. I’m human,” he said, acknowledging how the incident affected him personally. He attributed the situation to the work of individuals driven by online profit motives, stating, “What we have had to witness was clickbaiters just looking for money. I probably wasn’t even their target; their target was to make more money.”
Addressing the heart of the accusation, Pastor Adefarasin categorically denied owning or using a firearm. “I was falsely accused of pointing a firearm at an aggressive content creator who came within personal distance. I do not have a pistol license. I do not carry a firearm. And I pointed no firearm at anybody,” he clarified.
He also gave context to the alleged encounter, saying it took place on a Saturday—a day he observes as the Sabbath. “It happened on Saturday when I observed Sabbath. I believe in the principle of Sabbath,” he explained.
Pastor Adefarasin affirmed that his ministry would not engage with slander or online provocations, emphasizing their commitment to integrity and faith. “It’s our policy not to dignify hate speech and false accusations. We believe God is bigger than that.”
Citing scripture for strength and comfort, he quoted Romans 12:19: “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” He also reminded the congregation of God’s compassion and support during trials, saying, “God is touched with the feelings of our infirmities, and He’s able to first give us succour. And what the enemy means for evil, He works it for good.”
Pastor Adefarasin ended his remarks by signaling closure on the matter: “On that note, I will lay that matter to rest.”
