Soludo Connects Orumba Communities, Emphasizes Development Achievements Ahead of Anambra Governorship Election

As part of his campaign for the November 8, 2025, Anambra State Governorship election, Governor Chukwuma Soludo visited Ajalli in Orumba North and Umunze in Orumba South local government areas, describing the region as “his home.”

During his campaign tour, Governor Soludo engaged directly with local communities, outlining the accomplishments of his administration since taking office and presenting his vision for the future of Anambra State. He focused on critical sectors such as infrastructure development, healthcare, and education, while reiterating his confidence in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the elections approach.

“Be careful when you vote to avoid invalid votes,” he advised, describing his campaign as “a divine project and a mass movement.” Soludo highlighted the unprecedented grassroots involvement from local communities, which contributed funds and mobilized support, saying, “This visit is a homecoming for me,” and expressing gratitude for the strong backing he received from the area during the last gubernatorial election four years ago.

Urging residents to continue their support, Soludo encouraged voters to have their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ready. “Soludo will win with your vote. Come out and vote! Our commitment to improving the lives of the people of Anambra remains unwavering,” he emphasized.

He further noted ongoing initiatives in Orumba, stating, “We have initiated multiple projects aimed at enhancing our roads, schools, and hospitals, and we are not stopping there. In the next four years after November 8, we will accelerate development action across the state. We are intentionally building a society where everyone has the opportunity to excel. I promise to keep working for you for the remaining days we have.”

Prominent figures who accompanied the governor included former Deputy Governor Chief Emeka Sibudu, Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Foster Ihejiofor, Chief of Staff Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Federal Constituency representative Princess Chinwe Nnabuife, wife of former Vice President Lady Ifeoma Ekwueme, Mrs. Amaka Iruegbu, and Chief Ben Nwankwo. They emphasized that supporters of the Igbo cause will continue to receive backing from the Igbo people and reiterated APGA’s dominance across Orumba South’s 18 wards and 15 communities.

During the campaign, Orumba North contributed N75 million, while Orumba South donated N150 million to the governor’s election efforts.

INEC Confirms Readiness for Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that it will conduct the Anambra State Governorship election in 5,718 of the state’s 5,720 polling units. Two units will be excluded due to the absence of registered voters, according to Dr. Kenneth Ikeagu, INEC National Commissioner overseeing Anambra State and Chairman of the Tenders Board Committee.

Dr. Ikeagu stated that the Commission has achieved 99% operational readiness for the November 8 election. He noted that INEC conducted meetings with key stakeholders, monitored the distribution of PVCs, and concluded that the state is prepared for a smooth electoral process.

He assured that elections will proceed in all areas, including Ihiala local government, which was previously affected by security challenges. Contingency arrangements are in place where security concerns persist, including the use of local government collation centers, similar to arrangements in recent bye-elections.

Approximately 24,000 ad-hoc personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth operations. Non-sensitive materials have been delivered to INEC offices, while sensitive materials are scheduled for delivery 24 hours before the election. Agreements with transport unions and vehicle owners have been signed to guarantee secure and timely delivery, with payment split before and after deployment. Boats have also been arranged for riverine areas. Accreditation will begin at 8:30 a.m., with INEC officials arriving at polling units by 7:00 a.m.

Dr. Ikeagu also confirmed that security agencies have assured full coverage, with personnel from neighboring states supplementing local deployments. He praised residents for maintaining peace ahead of the election, emphasizing that security is a shared responsibility.

Highlighting the success of a recent mock accreditation exercise, he said the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) performed optimally, taking less than a minute per voter. He reminded citizens to collect their PVCs, emphasizing that collection by proxy is not allowed and that uncollected PVCs will remain the property of the individual voter at local government offices after the election.
