The Convener of the Good Governance Initiative (GGI), Ambassador Ikebunwa Lotanna, has sent warm Christmas greetings to the people of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo.
In a Christmas Day message released by the GGI Media Office and made available to Newday Reporters, Ambassador Ikebunwa called on Christians to embrace and reflect the virtues of Christ by promoting love, hope, generosity and compassion within their communities.
In the statement personally signed by him, Ambassador Ikebunwa described Christmas as one of the most joyful and cherished seasons for Christians across the world. He noted that the celebration offers a sacred opportunity for believers to gather in gratitude and thanksgiving as they commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Lord and Saviour of mankind.
According to him, the season serves as a profound reminder of God’s immeasurable love for humanity and His ultimate sacrifice for the salvation of the world.
He stressed that beyond the celebrations, Christians must remain mindful of the responsibilities that come with following Christ, urging them to live lives anchored on love, empathy, compassion and selfless service. He emphasized that Christ remains the perfect example of love and the true essence of the Christmas season.
Ambassador Ikebunwa also acknowledged the current challenges facing the nation, particularly the harsh economic realities affecting many households, as well as lingering security concerns in parts of the constituency that have limited the movement of some residents during the festive period.
Despite these difficulties, he expressed joy and encouragement that many constituents were still able to return home this year to reunite with their families, share love and strengthen communal bonds.
He further appealed to residents to use the Christmas season as an opportunity to support the less privileged, the hungry and the vulnerable within their communities. He noted that even simple acts of kindness could restore hope, uplift spirits and bring smiles to the faces of widows, orphans and other disadvantaged members of society.
Reflecting on the personal significance of the season, Ambassador Ikebunwa described Christmas as a special time for him and his family to come together with friends and well-wishers to celebrate and offer thanksgiving to God for His continuous protection, mercy, favour and blessings.
He disclosed that this year’s celebration is particularly focused on reaching out to the less privileged across the constituency, describing the initiative as a privilege and a way of expressing gratitude to God for the gift of life and divine provision. He appreciated the prayers, support and encouragement he has received from the people over time, noting that they continue to inspire his commitment to public service.
Amb. Ikebunwa reassured the people of his unwavering dedication to promoting unity, safeguarding the interests of the constituency and attracting meaningful development initiatives and empowerment programmes aimed at improving the standard of living of the people.
He concluded by offering prayers for families across Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo, wishing them peace, joy and abundant blessings during the festive season and beyond.
He wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
