Presidency Denies Reports of Change in Tinubu’s Chief of Staff

The Presidency has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, described the reports as false and misleading. He clarified that there has been no change in the leadership of the President’s office.
The clarification followed the circulation of unverified claims on social media suggesting that the President’s Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, had been appointed to replace Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff.

Reacting to the speculation, Onanuga urged Nigerians to ignore the reports, stressing that both officials remain in their respective positions.
“The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to a viral falsehood circulating on social media suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with his Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola. There is absolutely no truth to this story,” the statement said.

He added that Gbajabiamila continues to serve as Chief of Staff, while Muri-Okunola remains the Principal Private Secretary to the President.

According to the Presidency, the claim was fabricated by individuals seeking to spread misinformation and cause unnecessary tension within the government.

Onanuga also cautioned media organisations and social media users to verify information before publishing or sharing, warning that the spread of false reports undermines public trust and national cohesion.

He reiterated that no changes have been made to the current structure of the President’s office and urged the public to rely only on official sources for accurate information.
