Tinubu Nominates Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Mr Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite.
Dr Uzoka-Anite has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third ministerial portfolio under the current administration.
The President formally transmitted Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate on Tuesday in a letter addressed to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, seeking confirmation.
Before his nomination, Oyedele, an indigene of Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. The committee played a key role in restructuring Nigeria’s tax framework and recommending sweeping fiscal reforms aimed at improving revenue generation and strengthening the economy.
Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant, and public policy expert with over two decades of professional experience. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He has also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School, equipping him with extensive global exposure in public finance and policy development.
Over the course of his career, Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, where he joined in 2001 and rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
In addition to his professional career, he serves as a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and is a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
His nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
