Gunmen Attack Police Border Checkpoint in Kebbi, Kill Two Officers, Burn Facility

Gunmen have attacked a police border checkpoint along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje road in Bagudu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing two police officers and destroying security infrastructure at the location.
The assailants reportedly stormed the checkpoint in large numbers and began shooting indiscriminately, causing panic in the area. During the attack, two officers who were on duty at the checkpoint were killed.
After the shooting, the attackers set fire to the tent used by the officers at the checkpoint, leaving the structure completely burnt.
A police spokesperson in Kebbi State confirmed the incident, stating that the command had lost two officers in the attack. According to him, the gunmen also destroyed the checkpoint facilities during the assault.
He assured that security agencies are taking steps to address the situation and that further details would be provided as investigations continue.
The latest incident marks the third recent attack reported along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje border corridor. In earlier incidents in the same area, gunmen had reportedly killed officers of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
Security authorities are now intensifying efforts to restore calm and strengthen surveillance along the border route.
