The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released an updated list of senatorial aspirants disqualified from participating in the party’s Senate primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, removing former Bayelsa East Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, from the initial list.
Earlier, the party had published a list containing 47 aspirants who were either not cleared or affected by various issues. However, in a revised statement titled “Updated List of APC Senatorial Aspirants Not Cleared,” Murray-Bruce’s name was omitted, reducing the total number of affected aspirants to 44.
The updated list was made public on Monday through a statement signed by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
The ruling party emphasized the need for transparency, orderliness, and adherence to due process as its primary election process continues nationwide.
According to the updated document, the affected aspirants were excluded for different reasons including failure to scale the screening process, voluntary withdrawal, non-appearance for screening exercises, and defection from the party.
Among those listed under voluntary withdrawal are Senator Benson Agadaga of Bayelsa East, Prof. Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana of Nasarawa West, and Donald Daunemigita of Bayelsa West.
Senator Garba Musa Mai Doki from Kebbi South was listed as having defected from the party, while Adam Mouktar Mohammed from Jigawa South West was marked absent during the screening process.
Several other aspirants across states including Cross River, Delta, FCT, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Oyo, Rivers, Taraba, Yobe, Zamfara and Adamawa were categorized as “Not Cleared.”
The development comes as the APC intensifies preparations for its Senate primaries ahead of the 2027 elections, with internal screening processes expected to determine candidates eligible to fly the party’s flag.
Party officials maintain that the screening exercise is aimed at preserving the credibility and integrity of the nomination process while ensuring compliance with party guidelines.
