The mother of former Minister of Power and current political figure, Bayo Adelabu, Mrs. Adelabu, has expressed gratitude to God following the safe release of her daughter, Olaide Adegoke, and her twin grandsons after their abduction in Ibadan.
The family members were reportedly kidnapped by armed men on Tuesday, June 3, 2026, in Ibadan, before being rescued on Saturday night during a police operation that led to the neutralisation of two suspected kidnappers.
In a viral video shared by Oyo Affairs, Mrs. Adelabu was seen expressing relief and gratitude over the safe return of her daughter and grandchildren.
“Olaide, Peter’s mother, is my daughter, my last born. I am very happy. I give thanks to God for the mercy bestowed upon me,” she said.
She further appreciated all those involved in the rescue operation, noting that her family returned home unharmed.
“That I cried and saw helpers, and saw that my children were rescued unhurt; that my children came home in peace, and I can see all three of them. I thank all those involved in ensuring they were released,” she added.
The elderly woman also revealed that the incident deeply affected her, especially following the earlier abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, which occurred just a day before her family was kidnapped.
“A day before my children’s incident, I wept bitterly when I saw those children on the phone, without knowing it would happen to me too the following day,” she said.
While celebrating the safe return of her family, she also extended prayers to other victims still in captivity, urging for their release and protection.
“May God release them from captivity. The God who freed my children will free others too. None of them will die there. They will all come home safely,” she prayed.
Mrs. Adelabu also offered prayers for Nigeria, calling for divine intervention in addressing the rising insecurity across the country.
“God will help stop such occurrences in Nigeria. God will help the government and Nigeria.”
The incident comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Oyo State, following the reported abduction of more than 40 schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire, which sparked widespread condemnation and renewed calls for improved security in vulnerable communities.
