Social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has alleged that his relationship with Nigerian music star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, deteriorated after he declined an alleged ₦50 million offer to campaign for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Speaking in a viral video circulating on social media, VDM claimed the offer was made during an invitation to meet Governor Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle. According to him, his decision to reject the alleged payment marked a turning point in his relationship with the award-winning singer.
Recounting the incident in Pidgin English, VDM said Davido and members of his team allegedly contacted him with the proposal.
“Davido and his crew offered me money when they called me to come and meet his uncle, the governor. They said I would collect ₦50 million. Ask them what I told them. Many people would have accepted because ₦50 million is a lot of money, but I rejected it,” he said.
The activist also addressed public speculation about why he and Davido are no longer seen together, insisting that there has been little communication between them in recent times.
According to VDM, the last significant interaction they had was over a previous promise by Davido to give a Ghanaian boy $5,000. He claimed that after the payment was delayed, many social media users accused him of using the story for publicity.
VDM said he later contacted Davido through a direct message to remind him about the pledge after facing criticism online.
“The last time Davido and I spoke was about the Ghanaian boy he promised $5,000. I think he forgot or maybe he was busy. People were insulting me because they believed we used it for clout. I sent him a message asking him to pay the boy, and after that, they eventually paid him,” he alleged.
As of the time of filing this report, VDM has not presented evidence to substantiate his claim regarding the alleged ₦50 million offer.
Davido has also not publicly responded to the allegations or addressed the claims made in the viral video.
The claims remain unverified, and there is no official confirmation from Governor Ademola Adeleke or Davido’s representatives regarding the allegations.
