The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Halilu Danladi, has emerged winner of the Nasarawa Central Senatorial District by-election.
Announcing the result on Sunday, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Aminu Ali, declared Danladi as the duly elected candidate during the official collation and declaration of results held at the College of Education, Akwanga.
According to the results announced, Danladi polled 45,362 votes to secure victory in the keenly contested election.
The Labour Party candidate, Hon. Labaran Maku, came second with 12,931 votes, while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel David Ombugadu, finished third after securing 11,331 votes.
Professor Ali stated that Danladi satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes cast in the election, thereby emerging as the winner of the Nasarawa Central Senatorial District by-election.
The declaration brings an end to the electoral contest, with the APC maintaining its hold on the senatorial district following Danladi’s victory at the polls.
