The Dangote Group has strongly dismissed as false and malicious reports alleging that its President, Aliko Dangote, distanced himself from fellow business leader Tony Elumelu.
In an official statement issued by the Group’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the company clarified that neither Dangote nor the organisation made any of the claims attributed to them, describing the publication as a complete misrepresentation of both personal and corporate positions.
According to the statement, the report suggesting a fallout between Dangote and Elumelu is entirely baseless, noting that both men continue to maintain a longstanding and cordial relationship.
The Group also rejected allegations regarding the financing of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, insisting that claims it was funded through personal borrowing from friends are inaccurate and misleading.
It emphasised that Dangote does not finance his projects through informal personal loans or private lending arrangements, challenging anyone making such assertions to provide verifiable evidence.
Furthermore, the company expressed concern over what it described as a growing trend of fabricated statements and the unauthorised use of Dangote’s name, image, and likeness in AI-generated advertisements and other deceptive content. It warned that such actions pose serious reputational risks and may constitute fraud.
The Group cautioned individuals, organisations, and platforms involved in the creation or dissemination of false information to desist immediately, adding that it would pursue appropriate measures, including legal action, to safeguard its reputation and that of its leadership.
Reaffirming its core values, the Dangote Group stated its continued commitment to integrity while advancing industrialisation, economic self-sufficiency, and sustainable development across Africa.
