Hamzat Begins Consultations With GAC Ahead of 2027 Lagos Governorship Race

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has commenced a series of high-level political consultations as discussions around the 2027 governorship election begin to gather momentum.
On Monday, April 13, Hamzat held a strategic meeting with members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), party leaders, and other key stakeholders during a visit to respected elder statesman, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, in Lagos.
Notable figures present at the meeting included prominent GAC members such as Mutiu Are, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, and Alhaji Bode Oyedele.
The engagement is seen as part of a broader consultation process currently taking place across the state, amid increasing political alignments and conversations surrounding the next governorship contest in Lagos.
Speaking on his official X account, Hamzat said he had begun consultations with respected members of the Governance Advisory Council, describing the discussions as honest and thoughtful conversations focused on the future of Lagos State.
According to him, the consultations are centred on the kind of leadership required to move the state forward.
He noted that he deeply values the experience, wisdom, and guidance shared during the meeting, stressing that the process is about listening, learning, and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to build a stronger and more prosperous Lagos.
